Diagnostic description:
A soft-hairy annual or short-lived perennial, with decumbent stems up to 50 cm long. Leaves ovate to ovate-lanceolate, with slightly heart-shaped base, 3 cm to 4 cm long. Flowers solitary or in pairs, in the leaf axils. Corolla funnel-shaped, 5-lobed, blue with a yellowish centre, 9 to 12 mm across. Sepals 6 to 7 mm long.
Distribution:
Local: Common in Gibraltar. Found mainly throughout the Upper Rock and some southern parts.
Global: Found in the Mediterranean region, south Portugal and the Canary Islands.
Ecology:
Flowers from March, April to May.
Habitat:
Grows in dry, rocky habitats; clearings and waysides.
