Cuscuta planifora Ten.
Diagnostic description:
A parasitic annual. Flowers very small, white, in spherical clusters of 5 to 20, about 8mm in diameter. Stems yellow to reddish, up to 40 cm long, twining, with suckers with which the plant absorbs nutrients from its host.
Associations:
Usually parasitic on Jasminum fruticans, but also on others.
Distribution:
Local: Not common locally. Found in scattered places around Gibraltar, from the Upper Rock, along the East Side and southern parts.
Global: Found in the Mediterranean region.
Ecology:
Flowers from (February) March, April, May to June.
