Diagnostic description:
A hairless perennial with long trailing shoots up to 2 m long. Flowering stems ascending. Leaves opposite, ovate to ovate-lanceolate, up to 7 cm long. Flowers pale blue, in the leaf axils, about 4 cm diameter. Petals pointed but obliquely cut.
Distribution:
Local: Very common and widespread throughout the Upper Rock and southern parts.
Global: Found in the western Mediterranean region, Spain and Portugal, and north Africa.
Ecology:
Flowers from (January) February, March, April to May (June).
Habitat:
Grows in maquis and garigue.
