Scrophularia laevigata Vahl
Diagnostic description:
A hairless perennial. Stems loosely branched, 4-angled, slightly winged, up to 150 cm tall, or more. Leaves between 8 and 17 cm long, ovate-lanceolate, cordate, with double-toothed margins. Flowers in a very lax, much-branched panicle. Corolla 6 to 9 mm long, yellowish-green, with a purple upper lip. Calyx hairless, 3 to 5 mm long. Fruit capsule ovoid, 6 to 7 mm long.
Distribution:
Local: Very rare in Gibraltar. Found in cultivated areas, on imported soil.
Global: Found in south-western Spain and north Africa.
Ecology:
Flowers from March, April,May to June.
Habitat:
Grows on damp, sandy soil.
