Chaenorrhinum villosum (L.) Lange
A many-stemmed, densely glandular-hairy perennial. Stems decumbent or ascending, up to 50 cm long. Leaves up to about 1 cm long, generally opposite, thick, ovate, abruptly narrowing to a short petiole. Flowers in terminal racemes, usually taking up over half of the stems. Corolla 1 to 1.8 cm long, pale blue-violet with darker veins, and yellow palate. Pedicels up to 1.5 cm long, generally twisting. Calyx 4 to 10 mm long, with 5 narrow oblanceolate to elliptical lobes 0.5 to 1.5 mm wide.
Local: Not common in Gibraltar. Found mainly around cave entrances, on shady rocky surfaces, and on the sides of old walls, in scattered places around Gibraltar.
Global: Found in south-west Europe and north Africa.
Flowers from (April) May to June (July).
Grows on walls and rocks.
