Diagnostic description:
An almost hairless, scrambling annual. Stems angled or narrowly winged, 20 to 60 cm long. Leaves formed by a pair of leaflets, with branched tendrils. Leaflets narrowly linear, 4 to 9 cm long. Flowers solitary 9 to 12 mm across; corolla red. Seed pods 2 to 3 cm long.
Distribution:
Local: Rare in Gibraltar. Found in very scattered places on the Upper Rock.
Global: Found throughout the Mediterranean region.
Ecology:
Flowers from (March) April to May (June).
Habitat:
Grows on Garigue, grassy places, waste ground and waysides.
