Saxifraga globulifera Desf. var. gibraltarica Ser.
This variety is endemic to Gibraltar.
A herbaceous perennial. Leaves 3-lobed; green, turning red; glandular-hairy, all basal, forming loose or dense, rounded clumps. Flowers about 0.8 to 1 cm across, in clusters of 3 to 10 Petals 5, white. Stems from 5 to 15 cm tall, reddish at the base and sparsely pubescent.
Local: Not common in Gibraltar, but this variety is endemic to Gibraltar. The main stands are at Rock Gun and the area below, including the North Face, the Upper Galleries, and near the top of Mediterranean Steps. Scattered specimens may be found elsewhere in northern parts of the Rock, such as on the Northern Defences.
Flowers between March, April and May (June).
Grows in shady places, from limestone crevices and on stony surfaces or old walls.
