Rumex conglomeratus Murray
Diagnostic description:
An erect perennial, with zig-zag stem and spreading branches; between 30 and 80 cm tall. Basal leaves long stalked; with crisped margins; oblong, with rounded base; up to 20 cm long. The upper leaves smaller, narrower. Inflorescence lax and leafy, with spreading branches. Flowers in more or less dense whorled clusters forming simple of branched spike-like racemes. Perianth segments up to 1.5 mm long. Valves up to 3 mm long and 1.5 mm wide, narrowly triangular, entire, with large tubercles at their base.
Distribution:
Local: Very rare in Gibraltar. Found at North Front.
Global: Found throughout Europe, Africa and south-west Asia.
Ecology:
Flowers from April, May, June, July to August (October).
Habitat:
Found on damp, waste ground and on imported soil.
