Bupleurum fruticosum L.
A leafy shrub to 2.5 m tall. Leaves oblong elliptical, 5 to 12 cm long, coriaceous, with a prominent mid-vein. Flowers yellow; in compound umbels of 8 to 25 primary rays, about 10 cm across. Seeds about 7 mm long, with narrowly winged ribs.
Local: Common on the Upper Rock, though in localised areas. A shrub of the maquis; usually found along roadsides.
Global: Found in the Mediterranean region, south and central Portugal and north Africa. Sometimes grown as an ornamental shrub.
Flowers from June to July (August).
