Asteriscus aquaticus (L.) Less.
Diagnostic description:
An annual with stems which are erect, simple or branching in the upper parts, to 20 cm tall, usually less. Leaves up to 6 cm long, oblong lanceolate, oblong obovate or spathulate, entire. Flower heads 1 to 2 cm across, yellow. Ray florets as long as the inner involucral bracts but much smaller than the outer ones which are blunt and spreading. Achenes about 2 mm long, with silky hairs, and with a pappus of scales about 1 mm long.

Local:Not common in Gibraltar. Found in the Inglis Way / Charles V Road area.
Global: Found throughout the Mediterranean region.
Ecology:
Flowers from (April) May to June.
Habitat:
Grows on poor, sandy or stony soil near the coast; footpaths and waysides.
