Helichrysum boissieri Nyman
Diagnostic description:
A grey-looking, densely tomentose, branching perennial, to 50 cm tall. Leaves alternate, greyish, densely tomentose, linear to linear-spathulate, 3 to 8 cm long. Flower heads yellow, about 1 cm across, in dense terminal clusters from 2 to 7 cm across. Florets scarcely exceeding the involucre which is from 6 to 8 mm long and has 3 to 4 rows of bracts. Achenes about 1 mm long, with a pappus of rough hairs about 4 mm long.
Distribution:
Local: Common and widespread on the Upper Rock where it grows from limestone crevices, especially on cliffs, and on old walls in the town area.
Global: Found in the western and central Mediterranean region.
Ecology:
Flowers from (March) April, May to June (July).
