Anacyclus radiatus Loisel.
An annual with reddish, erect stems which are branched at the top; up to 60 cm tall. Stems and leaves densely tomentose. Lower leaves usually 3-pinnatisect; the upper ones bi- or pinnatisect; segments elliptical to linear. Flower heads 2 to 4 cm across, in a more or less flat-topped panicle. Ray florets yellow, sometimes purplish underneath, in two rows, up to 1.7 cm long; disc florets yellow, about 4 mm long. Involucre with 2 to 3 rows of bracts; bracts tomentose, the inner ones topped with wide, fringed, papery appendages. Achenes about 3 mm long, with narrow wings; pappus absent or reduced to a thin papery ring.
Local: Very common and widespread in Gibraltar. Found mainly the lower parts of the Rock, the East Side and southern parts. Grows on waste ground, waysides, coastal habitats.
Global: Throughout most of the Mediterranean region.
