Erigeron bonariensis L.
A densely pubescent, grey-looking annual, to 60 cm or more, branching in the upper parts, with side branches usually overtopping the central stem. Leaves grey-green, linear-lanceolate, entire or toothed, usually less than 5 mm wide. Flower heads in panicles, ray florets absent. Florets greenish-yellow, scarcely exceeding the involucre which is about 5 mm long. involucral bracts pubescent, in 3 to 5 rows. Achenes 1 to 1.5 mm long, with a yellowish pappus of rough hairs about 4 mm long.
Local: Very common and widespread throughout Gibraltar. Mostly in urban areas and lower parts of the Rock.
Global: A native of South America and is naturalised virtually world-wide.
Flowers all year round, but mainly between (May) June, July, August, September, October and November (December).
Grows on disturbed and waste ground, and waysides.
