Liverworts share these features:
They lack vascular tissue.
They lack clearly defined stems and leaves.
The thallus, in thallose liverworts, is usually prostrate and flattened.
Single celled rhizoids are produced (no true roots).
The gametophyte is the dominant part in the life cycle.
The sporophyte is dependent on the gametophyte and is short lived.
