Romulea clusiana (Lange) Nyman
Diagnostic description:
Grows from a corm about 1.5 cm across, bearing 1 to 4 flowers. Leaves linear, very narrow and grooved, from 10 cm to 70 cm long. Scapes up to 15 cm tall. Flowers 3 to 5 cm across. Perianth segments 6, violet in the upper parts, yellow at the base and with a whitish band between.
Distribution:
Local: Quite common on the southern parts of the Rock, from Martin’s Path to Windmill Hill Flats down to Europa Point. Scattered plants elsewhere.
Global: Found in south-west Spain and Portugal.
Ecology:
Flowers from February to March.
Habitat:
Grows on stony, open ground; garigue.
