Anthyllis hamosa Desf.
Diagnostic description:
A densely hairy annual, with erect or ascending stems up to 50 cm long. Upper leaves imparipinnate, with up to 13 linear-lanceolate leaflets. Flowers in terminal clusters at the ends of peduncles which are about as long as the leaves. Corolla yellow, about 1 cm long, slightly longer than the curved, hairy calyx. Floral bracts somewhat longer than the flowers. Seed pods sickle-shaped, upcurved, with a long awn-shaped beak about 1 cm long, which projects beyond the calyx.
Distribution:
Local: Rare in Gibraltar. Found on the East Side sand slopes.
Global: Found in Portugal, South Spain and North Africa.
Ecology:
Flowers from April, May to June.
Habitat:
Grows on sandy places around the coast.
