Entosthodon pulchellus (H.Philib.) Brugues
This is a small yellowish green plant, 4 - 5 mm tall, with reddish to brownish rhizoids. The leaves are obovate(egg-shaped with the apex broader the base) lanceolate to oblong lanceolate in shape. Approximately 1.3 x 3.5 mm in size with a long acumen point. The leaf margin is entire. The smooth, yellowish cream to brownish red seta is between 5 - 11 mm in length. The asymmetrical pyriforme capsule is slightly inclined and brownish in colour. The opening of the capsule is slanted/inclined. The operculum conical. The calyptra forms a “beak” of approximately 3mm in length which tends to be held up in a horizontal position.

Pockets of calcareous soil within limestone outcrops. Also found on old damp walls.
