Cachrys libanotis L.
Diagnostic description:
A branched perennial forming rounded clumps up to 70 cm tall. Leaves firm, the basal ones 4-6 pinnatisect, with narrow linear to thread-like lobes, the upper ones 2-4 pinnatisect. Flowers yellow in compound umbels of 10 to 20 primary rays, from 7 to 12 cm across. The seeds ovoid about 1 cm long, with smooth ribs.
Distribution:
Local: Not common locally. Found on the East Side sand slopes,and at North Front Cemetery where they are in danger of disappearing due to the persistent clearing of vegetation there. Grows on sandy soil.
Global: Also found in south Spain and Portugal.
Ecology:
Flowers from May to June (July).
