Biscutella variegata Boiss. & Reut.
Diagnostic description:
An erect, hairy-tomentose perennial, from 30 to 70 cm tall. Basal leaves obovate to oblong about 10 cm long, wavy-toothed. The lower stem leaves smaller, clasping the stem, toothed or crenately lobed; the upper stem leaves smaller still. Flowers with four petals, about 1 cm across, yellow, in branched racemes. Silicula disc-shaped, in pairs, 10 to 16 mm across.
Distribution:
Local: Very common and widespread throughout the Upper Rock, the East Side and southern parts.
Global: Found throughout southern Spain.
Ecology:
Flowers between March, April, May and June.
Habitat:
Grows on stony ground and from limestone crevices; waysides.
