Diagnostic description:
A simple or branched, erect or ascending annual, between 2 and 15 cm tall. Leaves obovate to elliptical-lanceolate, from 7 to 15 mm long. Flowers 2 to 3 mm across, in dense branched clusters. Petals whitish, enclosed by the sepals.
Distribution:
Local: Very common and widespread throughout Gibraltar.
Global: Found in most of western and central Europe.
Ecology:
Flowers from March, April, May, June to July.
Habitat:
Grows in open areas, waste ground, waysides, including the town area where it is found on pavements.
