Hyacinthoides hispanica (Mill.) Rothm.
Diagnostic description:
A bulbous perennial with stems 15 to 50 cm tall. Bulb up to 3 cm long. Leaves all basal, 3 to 8 per bulb; linear, smooth, shiny, 10 to 40 cm long and up to 2 cm wide. Flowers up to 2 cm long, with 6 perianth segments, bell-shaped, pale to mid-blue but sometimes pink or white; in a lax raceme of many flowers. Raceme not one-sided. Floral bracts 2, linear. Capsule 3-angled, about 1 cm across.

Local:In Gibraltar it can be found at Alameda Gardens.
Global: Native of the Iberian Peninsula and north Africa, but naturalised elsewhere. Widely cultivated in gardens, and just as widely naturalised.
Ecology:
Flowers from February, March, April to May.
Habitat:
Grows along roadsides, hedgerows and open woodland.
