- Elaters
A cell structure that changes its shape depending on the level of humidity. By doing so it helps to disperse spores.
- Elliptical
In the shape of an ellipse, widest in the middle and pointed at both ends.
- Emarginate
With a pronounced sharp notch at the apex.
- Endemic
A plant that is restricted to growing in one particular area.
- Entire
The margin of a flat organ e.g. leaf is not divided, not toothed or lobed.
- Ephemeral
A plant that lives only for a very short period of time.
- Epicalyx
Organs on the outside of or below a flower. It resembles an extra calyx.
- Erect

Not shedding its leaves. Green throughout the year.
